In home Dental Examinations

  • All examinations will include:

    • detailed medical and dental history

    • visual inspection of mouth, teeth, gums and jaws

    • checking each tooth for cavities, cracks and wear.

    • Gum health check looking for signs of gum disease, inflammation and recession,

    • Bite and Jaw assessment to check that the teeth fit together properly and jaws move comfortably.

    • Orthodontic screening conducted and advice for when to seek specialist opinion.

    • Soft tissue examination checking cheeks, tongue, palate and lips for any changes and lesions.

    • This will also include a myofunctional screen and any concerns will be discussed at this visit.

      (A further evaluation or structured orofacial myofunctional therapy program maybe recommended.)

    • Preventive advice for guidance on brushing, flossing, diet counselling and habits to maintain health teeth, gums and smile.

    • Playtime! With toys, stories and games for education for healthy smiles.

      As this is conducted in your home advice is specifically tailored to your family.

    As a professional and a mother, I totally understand that this is your own personal space I’m entering. Please do not worry about making sure that your home is spotless, all I will require a small clutter free space that I can set up my equipment with good lighting. This can be completed in lounge room, playroom, outside or available space that feels comfortable for your child.

In home preventive care

  • Prophylaxis/ Polish & Scale and Clean

    Professional removal of plaque and/or calculus/ tartar (hardened deposits) and a polish to remove surface staining that can’t be brushed away at home. Completed as required after examination. Sensory friendly alternatives available.

    Professional Topical Applications

    Professional topical application of remineralisation agent to the surface of the tooth to reduce sensitivity or early signs of dental decay. This treatment will be recommended on in dividualised basis on decay risk assessment. A discussion on available options and if required can be completed at exam appointment.

Myo Munchee Program- Dummy Cessation

  • A Myo Munchee can be a great tool to help with cessation of dummy habits during the day, drooling and teething. It encourages bilateral chewing with lip closure, promotes nasal breathing, saliva control, reinforcing proper oral/ tongue posture, stimulates periodontal health, helps aid proper growth and development and encourages good oral habits.

    As a Bebe certified practitioner, I can work with children as young as 4-6 months with Bebe Myo Munchee.

    This 9- 12 week program with 2-3 weekly interval visits is to ensure that your child is using device the correct way, provide assistance with implementation into your daily routine and ensuring consistency of practice. Myo Munchee is a Myofunctional tool and will need to be sized for your child and once fully implemented after the program, further reviews are needed to ensure that it’s still suitable.

    The Myo Munchee program has been designed for parents and their younger children (1-5 years old) who are too young or not ready for traditional myofunctional therapy but wanting to work on myofunctional foundation skills.

    Includes 1× 45min consultation, 3X 30 mins sessions and Myo Munchee.

    Duration: 9-12 weeks with 2-3 weekly sessions.

    Booking deposit required $ 350 then 3 payments of $100.

    *Cost of travel fees required on the day.

    For siblings enrolling in this program together, $350 will be total cost for each additional child (siblings will attend their sessions together.)

Happy Hands Thumb/Finger Program

  • Happy Hand Thumb sucking Program is a gentle and orofacial myofunctional therapy approach to stopping thumb sucking and restoring balance and proper functions for optimal oral development. This will require a Full Orofacial Myofunctional Assessment and child & parent consultation prior to implementation. The success of this program depends on the child’s readiness and willingness to let go of the habit. The program is from age 4 and the best time to undertake a sucking cessation program is before or around the time of the central incisors (middle top front teeth) are being lost. Happy Hands, Healthy Habits tool kit is included in the cost of the program and includes gentle reminders, myofunctional tools and things to keep children smiling and hands busy.

    Habits like Dummy, Finger and Thumb sucking is complex in nature. It takes an average of 66 days to break a habit but can range anywhere from 18 days to 254 days depending on the individual and complexity.

    Due to this the program is run for 15 weeks from Quit Day. The first week is the hardest for the children and families, this week I will touch base with the child each day and the first review at the end of the week.

    Myo exercises and regular guidance, reassurance and encouragement are reviewed at regular intervals and tailored to the child’s needs.

    *Cost of ongoing Myo spots not included in cost of program and will require 60 min Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy assessment. Not included in the cost of program.

    $350 deposit and 4 payments required at review appointments of $75. *Travel fee’s required at the time of appointments.

    Happy Hands Healthy Habits Kits $100 including GST can be purchased if lost or would like to have extra kit available.

Orofacial Myofunctional Assessment

  • An OMT assessment looks at how the lips, tongue, teeth, jaws and breathing all work together. By evaluating the body and oral rest posture, swallowing, speech and habits to find what may be affecting oral health and development. This helps us designs a therapy plan that’s tailored to your child’s needs. OMT assessment is for children who are aged 4 and up will take approximately 60-90 mins and includes:

    • A case history including medical, dental, sleep, speech and feeding history including any habits history.

    • A breathing and airway check for obstructions, nasal patency and sleep disordered beathing.

    • Oral posture assessment including tongue positions, lip seal and jaw posture and alignment.

    • Muscle function test including tongue strength and mobility, lip, cheek and jaw strength and coordination.

    • Swallowing and chewing patterns by observing how food and liquids are chewed and swallowed, presence of tongue thrust or muscle compensations.

    • A posture assessment of head, neck and body posture.

    • Dental and facial development which includes jaw growth, bite relationship and oral functions.

    • The assessment also includes photographs, videos and measurements for documentation of resting posture, oral movements and progress tracking for future sessions.

    Following an Orofacial Myofunctional Assessment a written assessment summary and recommendations that is tailored to your child’s needs will be emailed to you. Included in the total price.

    Parent consultations for children aged 1-5 if for parents looking for early interventions for their young children. During the consultation will focus on specific questions and concerns as your child grows such as:

    • Breathing

    • Sleep issues

    • Diet and digestion concerns

    • Tongue and oral rest posture to aid growth and development

    • Speech

    • ADHD/Behavioral concerns

    • Denal Health/ Cavities

      This may include a visual look at your child, request for photos or video’s of specific concerns prior to appointment.

      The session length for this consultation is designed to focus on your concerns for 1 child. If you would like to extend the length of your session in order to have time to discuss concerns for multiple children and family pricing, please contact directly via the contact us page.

      *While we discuss myofunctional therapy principles and may introduce some early exercises, this is not a therapy program for your child. This consultation is designed for parents, to be used as a stepping stone, until your child has the comprehension, coordination and cooperation necessary for therapy.

  • Orofacial Myofunctional Assessment 60 mins $145 (age 4 and up) *If has undergone a dental examination within 6 months with Nurturing Smiles Dental.

    New Client Initial Orofacial Myofunctional Assessment 90 mins (age 4 and up) $199.

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) session

  • A OMT session outlines the exercises, with instruction on how to do and when to do them. The OMT sessions require repetition, gradual complexity and encompasses tongue, lip strengthening and coordination exercises, body posture monitoring, breathing, chewing and swallowing monitoring.

    The session includes exercise sheets and instructions and/or MyoKids© app access for videos, exercise tracking and reward badges.

    Recommended that the sessions take place in-person as regular reviews of progress including photos and measurements are required throughout individualised program, however, online sessions can also be made available.

  • Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy Sessions 40 mins $140

    Myofunctional Therapy toolkit $88 Including GST.

    This kit includes all the therapy tools you will need to complete your therapy sessions. If you lose your kit and need a replacement or need a spare kit for multi-parent living situations, please let us know.
